Sam Raimi Chooses Oz the Great and Powerful

After Spider-man 4 was canceled and Sam Raimi departed its production, rumors went left and right that the director would begin work on the World of Warcraft film as his next project.

However, the Deadline website reports Sam Raimi officially took the director’s seat of Oz the Great and Powerful, leaving the World of Warcraft film in hiatus.

A few months ago, Sam Raimi revealed he had read the 40 pages script of the Warcraft film. The script is still in early stages after going through a few iterations.

Blizzard Entertainment wants this film to meet its fans’ expectations, and theirs. Deadline speculates the Warcraft film might come out around 2012 if Raimi works on the Oz film first.
