Warcraft Movie Sequel Not Ruled Out

During a Forbes interview, the new Senior VP of Story and Franchise development Lydia Bottegoni and in-game cinematic project director Terran Gregory talked about how women came to rule the world in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. At some point, the discussion shifted to the WARCRAFT movie by Legendary Pictures.

There is nothing concrete in the works, but there is enough leeway here to not rule out a Warcraft Movie sequel. Blizzard is still talking with Legendary. The second part of the response can also be interpreted as internal discussions for other type of projects beyond film: an Animated Series; or Netflix/Hulu live action series; or a TV series.

Newman: Are there other opportunities here for storytelling beyond the boundaries of the game universe at this point? Are there other projects in the works beyond the series of novels or game-supporting materials?

Bottegoni: The Warcraft movie, Legendary Pictures licensed that property for that movie and they still have an involvement in the licensing of the property. There’s a partnership there and there has to be work in tandem with Legendary. We are talking to them about it. There’s a lot of complexity.

I think that we can imagine that there will be further expressions of the franchise in the linear media space. What the right path for that is, there’s a lot of conversations going on around it. We definitely haven’t pinned that one down yet. — Source
