Legendary Pictures issued a press release announcing the Warcraft Movie Release Date Moved to June 10, 2016. The intended release date before this change was supposed to be March 11, 2016. This is the second time the release date has been moved. The original date was December 2015, but was changed shortly after the next Star Wars release date was announced — conflicting with Warcraft’s.

Speculation: Warcraft Movie Trailer to debut at 2015 SDCC?

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in World of Warcraft Film

Speculation-Mode is on, folks. Duncan Jones tweeted he wants to lose some weight for the Comic Con. My conspiracy-theory spider-sense is tingling. As you might remember, Duncan Jones showed off the Warcraft Movie teaser at San Diego Comic Con 2014. That teaser was exclusive to attendees, and recordings were forbidden. To this day, not a single video has appeared online for it.

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Legendary Pictures, World of Warcraft Film

Duncan Jones tweeted he is supervising work done at ILM to oversee progress on the Legendary Pictures’ Warcraft movie. After sending him a quick tweet about what his visit’s purpose is, he replied: “We have a huge amount of FX work, so I go on regular trips to ILM to mess up everyone’s comfortable routine! ;)”

For those wondering what ILM stands for, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is an American Academy Award-winning motion picture visual effects company — a division of Lucasfilm. You can browse their past works over at the website.

Warcraft Film – Duncan Jones Says CGI is a tool that can be done well

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in World of Warcraft Film

Director Duncan Jones has been on fire tweeting short statements on his twitter account about the Warcraft film and about CGI in general, in response to criticism toward CGI as a tool in some films. He must be very excited to see how the Warcraft film is coming along in post-production. What do you think?

Duncan said recently: “I would say that we fit somewhere between Planet of the Apes, Fellowship of the Ring and Avatar.”

“The best CGI has you forgetting its CGI, and accepting the visual as whatever it is supposed to be.”

“Like props. No one has an issue with “props” in film, do they?”

“Weta also made planet of the Apes. The style is a choice made by the creative team. How the tool is used, not the tool itself!”

“You know as well as I do, game to film adaptions have a checkered past, but Im proud of this beast. It’s unique. Its something special.” (source)

Today, Duncan said: “I hear this “CGI in film sucks,” mantra again & again. It doesnt. Its a tool like any other. It can be done well & it can be done shit.”

Ramin Djawadi Scoring Warcraft MovieManMadeMovies (UK) spotted and got a translation of an interview made by chinese movie-site Mtime to the Warcraft Movie director Duncan Jones. Duncan revealed Ramin Djawadi is scoring the music theme for the Warcraft Movie. Ramin Djawadi is a music composer known for his scoring of Iron Man (2008), Pacific Rim (2013) and Prison Break (2005).

This is the first time Duncan Jones has been interviewed about the Warcraft Movie after BlizzCon 2014. In addition, ILM Jeff White (known for Marvel’s Hulk) is visual effects supervisor of the Warcraft Movie along with Bill Westenhofer.

Below is a video of one of Ramin’s score for the Game of Thrones (HBO). The Warcraft Movie is slated to premiere in theaters on March 11, 2016.

BlizzCon 2014 Warcraft Movie Trailer Impressions by Yanmo Zhang

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in BlizzCon 2014, Warcraft Movie, World of Warcraft Film

Director Duncan Jones and Legendary Pictures welcomed fans to the Warcraft Movie museum where they displayed armor, weapons and props used during the filming. In addition, fans were able to watch an exclusive Warcraft Movie trailer with actors in action and landscape visuals. Bad news is no one will ever watch the Warcraft Movie trailer online.

Our staff member DPerschonok (Naka) watched it, and no one was allowed to take photos nor video. Good thing there is nothing stopping artists from recreating it.

Yanmo Zhang — a Blizzard Entertainment freelance artist from China — was invited to BlizzCon 2014 by the video games studio. After drooling over the Warcraft Movie trailer (and watching it three times no less), he decided to use his talent to recreate some of the scenes he watched to share them with fans across the world.

Warcraft Movie: Ben Foster Plays Medivh the Last Guardian

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in Legendary Pictures, World of Warcraft Film

IGN interviewed X-Men: The Last Stand actor Ben Foster who revealed he plays the role of Medivh the Last Guardian in the Warcraft Movie. Foster also had the chance to see some test footage of motion-capture and mentions while Medivh doesn’t have any motion-capture, there are characters and creatures in his proximity onscreen that do use motion-capture.

Ben Foster: “The character in Warcraft that I play is named Medivh. He’s a mage, which is essentially a sorcerer,” Foster revealed. “He came up in a time protecting an area, and the way he protected this area was through magic. As peace returned to this land he took a break. He hung up his staff, so to speak, or let his guns get dusty. We meet him as his friends are returning asking for his help in a battle.” — source: IGN

Joke or Tease? Duncan Jones Hinting Warcraft III Arthas Movie?

Written by Medievaldragon on . Posted in World of Warcraft Film, World of Warcraft News

Recently, the Empire Magazine had the awesome opportunity to show the first onstage behind-the-scenes photo of the Warcraft movie.

Last night, however, Duncan Jones posted the same photo shown in Empire Magazine with a different image on his computer monitor. Duncan Jones tweeted: “Kind of glad @empiremagazine touched up that behind the scenes picture before they published it.”

Duncan is kidding that the live action seen on his monitor in that Empire Magazine photo was photoshopped to look as if he was shooting that scene, but that in reality he was actually playing Warcraft III. Duncan shows in that tweet the same photo — but playing Warcraft III.

However, with Duncan Jones it is extremely difficult to figure out whether he was truly kidding, or if he is kidding+hinting.

Could Duncan Jones be hinting he plans to shoot a Warcraft III film? If so, would it be the next sequel, or would it be the third?

It’s difficult to think there wouldn’t be a Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness and a Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal movie. Could he just skip all that and jump straight into a Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos movie?

Some time ago, during the casting audition calls, Production Weekly posted the description of the Warcraft Movie which cited text straight from the World of Warcraft: Arthas: Rise of the Lich King book description.

The passion of Prince Arthas would look truly great in the big screen. A young Prince who ascends into the ranks of the Paladins in the ceremony celebrated in Stormwind. His romance with Jaina Proudmoore. His dark secret as he causes the dead of his loved horse Invincible. The plague of Andorhal. The Culling of Stratholme. His quest for vengeance in Northrend. The discovery of Frostmourne. His descend into madness. That really makes a great movie.

My job is to inform and to give you two or more possible options. What do you think? Was Duncan Jones kidding, or was he hinting a Warcraft III movie? — source
